How To Recover Gmail Account's Password?

We can recover Gmail Account only if we have registered recovery options or Access to Active/Working Phone or Email address and Other Verificatin details.

Different Ways To recover Gmail Account's Password

Step 1

By Last Remembered password

If you have forgotten your Gmail password but remember a previous one, you can recover your account by following steps:

  • Enter password Screen will prompted, select "Try another way" until you see the option to enter your last remembered password.
  • Type in your most recent password that you remember.

  • If the password is correct, Google will log you in or ask you to reset your password.
  • Go to Gmail and enter New password.

    By Registered Mobile Number (OTP Method)

    If you have lost access to your Gmail account but have a registered mobile number linked to it, you can recover it using an OTP (One-Time Password)

    • Click on "Try another way" until you see the mobile number option.
    • Google will display part of your registered phone number. Click "Send" to receive an OTP via SMS or call.
    • Check your phone's SMS inbox for a 6-digit verification code from Google. Enter the OTP in recovery Page and click "Next"

    • If the OTP is verified, Google will ask you to create a new password
    • Enter a Strong Password, Confirm the new Password and Click "Next".

    By Recovery Email ID

    If you have forgotten your Gmail password but have a recovery email linked to your account, you can regain access using the following steps:

    • Click on "Try another way" until you see the option to send a verification code to your recovery email.
    • Google will display part of your recovery email address for confirmation. Click "Send" to receive a 6-digit verification code.
    • Login in your Recovery Email and check for an email from Google with a 6-digit verification code, Copy the code.
    • Enter the 6-digit verification code to Google Account Recovery page and Click "Next"

    • If the OTP is correct, Google will prompt you to set a new password.
    • Enter a Strong Password, Confirm the new Password and Click "Next".
    • Go to Gmail and enter New password.

    By Answering Security Question (If Set Earlier)

    If you have forgotten your Gmail password and don't have access to your recovery email or phone number, you can recover your account by answering security questions (if you had set them up previously).

    • Click on "Try another way" until reach the security question prompt.
    • Google will ask a pre-set security question (e.g., "What is the name of your School?")
    • If Google needs further verification, it may ask for another security question or additional details.
    • Type your exact answer and click "Next"
    • If your answer matches, Google may allow you to reset your password immediately.

    By Confirming When You Created the Account

    If you have lost access to your Gmail account and cannot use a recovery email or phone number, you can try recovering it by confirming the date you created the account.

    • Click on "Try another way" multiple times until you reach the option to confirm your account creation date.
    • Google will ask: "When did you create this Google Account ?"
    • If you remember the exact month and year of account creation, enter it.
      • If unsure, make an educated guess based on: date you first used Gmail or the time you registered for a related service (e.g., YouTube, Google Drive) or Checking old emails on linked accounts.
    • Click Next.
    • If Google accepts your answer, you will proceed to reset your password.

    Through Device Verification

    If you have previously logged into your Gmail account on a trusted device (such as your phone, tablet, or another computer), Google may allow you to recover your account by verifying your identity on that device.

    • Click on "Try another way" until you see an option to verify your identity using a trusted device.
    • Google will display a message like:

      • "Check your phone for a verification prompt."

      • "Tap Yes on your device to confirm it's you."
    • On your previously signed-in phone or tablet, Google will send a "Is this you?" notification. Tap "Yes, it's me" or "Approve" to confirm your identity.
    • If the verification is successful, Google will prompt you to set a new password.

    Through Contact Google Support (Last Option)

    If you have tried all recovery methods (recovery email, phone number, security questions, device verification, etc.) and still cannot access your Gmail account, your last option is to contact Google Support.

    • If you have tried each of the methods and none of them work, you will see an option like "Try another way" until Google provides a support link.
    • If recovery fails, go to Google Account Help.

    • Google may direct you to fill out a "Account Recovery Request Form".
